White bungalow

White bungalow

The first thing I have to tell you about this beautiful home is that the owner had lived in a 9-thousand square foot house prior to this 2-thousand square foot bungalow.  That meant selling furniture and giving away a treasure trove of clothing to make it work.  It also meant major editing and only keeping what she loves. Mission accomplished.

And get this. The previous owner decorated with dark blues and browns. So her decision to paint all the walls white dove (Benjamin Moore) gave her the light canvas she needed for her beautiful family portraits and other fantastic art.

Patty Klos owns a boutique jewelry store in Florence, Alabama.  It’s just 100 miles south of Nashville where we used to own a lake house.  We met through friends and I knew she had fabulous taste when I first met her by the way she dressed and styled her shop, Parker Bingham Jewelers.

See what I mean?!? The elegant shop accented by one of her best accessories, sweet Boo, has such lovely earrings, necklaces, rings and watches, but I digress.  Back to her home retreat where you can see the same style aesthetic, with beautifully framed nudes and neutrals.

She’s collected the framed nudes from mainly two artists, Kristin Blakeney out of Tuscaloosa and Haley Matthews from Charleston. The larger one on the left was purchased at Antiques on Holiday in Destin, and the bunny pillow is from Hunt Slonem.

Patty renovated the master bath which had, like the rest of the house, been dark blue and brown with an older shower.  She gutted it, added the huge window and with her impeccable taste,  she has a spa like retreat.

From top to bottom, this room is dreamy.

Patty is a big fan of Scott’s Antique Market in Atlanta. That’s where she found the large light fixture.

I adore the pair of lamps above the gorgeous dresser. Patty really has the touch when it comes to vignettes throughout her home. From her bedroom to her den and kitchen, there’s such attention to detail, and no clutter!!!

My eyes went straight to her beautifully curated bookshelves and the glass tray with french wine glasses from Trove in Birmingham.  So delicate.

And in her white kitchen, that used to have dark blue counter tops and brown tile, another perfect vignette by the sink.

One of her favorite collections is the group of vintage antlers hanging in her living room.

The exterior has such a pristine look about it too.  She had Marder’s help her with the containers that sit in the shade on her front porch.

Patty loves her smaller retreat and I can see why.  It’s so charming.  And she gets to go to work in a similar environment.

If you haven’t been to Florence, you really ought to make the short drive from Nashville. There’s so much to discover, and if you go, stop and see Boo and Patty at Parker Bingham Jewelers.  It will be hard not to leave without some jewelry, and at the very least, be inspired by a stylish and beautiful designing woman.   And shopdog Boo will be there to greet you.

Thanks to Patty for having me over to see her place.  If you ever go to Florence, you need to swing by and say hello. She’s located at English Village.  Tell her Amy sent you!!! And follow her on Instagram, @parkerbinghamjewelers.
