I’ve always thought I would love a turret in my home and this stone one would be hard to beat in a stunning Tremont home I recently visited in Nashville.  I’m not sure, though, if this is really a turret after looking up the definition.  I read that the difference between a turret and a tower is that turrets typically don’t start at the ground level, and rather, cantilever out from another upper level.  Whatever the case may be, this one is so pretty, and  with views of our city’s rapidly changing skyline and wildlife just outside your windows, the home really has the best of both worlds. It’s beautifully situated on a hillside, making for a dramatic setting with spectacular views and wonderful light.  The stone walkways, along with the home’s other landscape architectural details,  are quite special.

Wish I had a summer aerial photo to show the leafed out trees but at least you can see the scope of the property in this drone shot. But you have to see what the “tower” looks like from inside!

Obviously this is from upstairs looking down into the foyer.   Can you imagine the photo opportunities the family has had here?!?  It’s a spectacular staircase with light pouring in that makes for a dramatic entry into the home. And I personally love how she’s decorated her foyer table with branches and carved angels.

The home, located in the desirable Tremont neighborhood in Oak Hill, was designed back in 1991 by architect Mark Harrison.

Christine Lunsford and her family moved into the home four years ago.  They loved it but wanted to make some changes, including moving several walls and columns in the breakfast room to open up the space.

There were other updates the family wanted to make that included refinishing the floors, and changing paint colors.

They also added to the fireplace mantle and raised it. This room off the kitchen has views of the city skyline as well as the back pool area.

This is the formal living room or study in the front of the house where Christine enjoys her morning coffee.  I love the coral paint accent in the bookshelves. Her accessories really stand out with this as a background. Much of her art and collectibles are garden related.  But one of her best accents in the house that also follows her is Pearl, her West Highland Terrier.

Sweet little Pearl is blind but manages to get around the house.  The little lady looks great surrounded by so many soft colors.

Anyone who knows me already knows how much I love westies, so this was an added bonus on the house tour!

The light in the house is incredible.  There are multiple sets of french doors with access to the gorgeous property that surrounds the home located on two acres.

The breakfast room has a unique ceiling that draws your eye upward, and if you’re not looking up, you’re definitely looking out, at this.

The pool, stone walls, and surrounding hardscape is fantastic.  Christine is a master gardener so she obviously has a great canvas to work in on these grounds.

This development in Oak Hill is really special with its hillside homes with stunning views and  nature always puts on a good show too.  Like this owl that dropped in one day on Christine’s porch.

Talk about the best of both worlds.  But soon the family will be moving on.  The house is about to go on the market so if this is your style, be on the lookout for the listing!
