01 Oct Jewel in Germantown
Nestled among old and new houses in the historic and urban neighborhood of Germantown sits a renovated jewel of a home that its owner says was an oasis in a city that inspired her to be more creative.
While the home is certainly charming from the front with its architectural details, it’s what you find inside that has the real WOW factor once you step through the front doors.
Surprised?!? I was. This modern bright dining room is the first room off the foyer that greets you with its pizazz. This is a Branan White designed and staged home on 7th Avenue North in the walkable Germantown neighborhood where you’ll find so many restaurants and businesses co-existing with homeowners. It happens to be for sale, but I want to tell you a bit about the homeowner who had such a wonderful experience living in this home. She left a beautiful letter in the house for people looking at it to know how much she loved entertaining and being here. The homeowner is a hat designer who shared her home with countless guests.
She writes that once or twice a week she had the best musicians in Nashville coming to visit and playing for her in the large kitchen while she cooked! I can just see it. Only in Nashville, right? Celebrities and music producers came here to be fitted for their custom hats. If these walls could talk! And take note of the concrete countertops, the kitchen wall with the stainless steel open shelves and wooden ceiling. Branan White is an artisan who blends old world charm with modern amenities as you can see throughout this home.
The details are so unique, like the antique doors throughout the downstairs from Preservation Station in Nashville.
The main floor master bedroom is also decked out with an amazing headboard made from old doors, along with other unique furnishings found by Branan White who routinely travels the world in search of just the right item to incorporate into his next project. He is a designer and home builder who combines his trades around the country but is based in Nashville.
And the master bath is over the top too. A beautiful claw foot tub, walk-in shower, double vanity and other amenities.
Even though you’re in the city, you have some privacy here that includes a screened in porch on the side of the house where the owner enjoyed drinking her coffee each morning.
I must mention that Germantown has been deemed a city Arboretum so its residents can enjoy protected natural greenery. And it’s also on the National Register of Historic Places with gorgeous old churches, Victorian buildings and brick sidewalks.
Community is a big draw for people who move to Germantown. This homeowner loved her neighbors and had them over. It’s a walkable area with countless destinations to visit, whether it’s the Farmer’s Market, restaurants, or a Sounds baseball game close by. The house definitely feels like a home for entertaining and sharing and that’s what this hat designer hopes will continue when someone new moves in. She says 1311 7th Avenue North has its own magic to sprinkle on the lives of whomever calls it home next.
If you’re interested in seeing this home and possibly making it your new address, contact Parks agent Griffin Saunders; 615-512-7126 or griffinatparks@gmail.com. The home has 3133 square feet, 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms with gated, private off-street parking. The floor plan is suited for income producing, owner occupied rentals.
