Fun family house

Fun family house

When you drive into this development in Brentwood, Tennessee,  or in this case take a drone over Annandale, you see large, lovely homes that have so much to offer families.  And sidewalks for walking your dog or yourself and tons of green space.

For the past seven years, this beauty has been home to a family with four children. They had moved many times over the years and knew what they wanted when they built this one.

There are some dramatic features, indeed, including the staircase and foyer.

The entrance is grand,  with arched openings, soaring ceilings, and beautiful millwork. But before you assume it’s going to be formal and maybe stuffy, guess again.

While it is a large and luxurious home, it’s so much more, and the first hint is when you walk in and see the aquarium in the “formal” living room!  This says fun to me.

This eleven thousand, four hundred square foot home in Annandale was custom built in 2011,  and it’s all about the kids.

From the fish tank that you can see through to the den, to a basement that would be a dream for any child or child-at-heart, this is a playful and inspired dwelling.

One of the couple’s four children, Dylan, is an outstanding hockey player, so he showed me a few of his best shots in their indoor sports court that’s located in the basement. What a playground!  The family had a splatter paint night which led to the colorful wall art.  Graffiti artists also came to the house and added their creative touch with inspirational words the family chose. You can tell this is a family that not only lives together but plays together.

That’s Dylan’s mom watching him shoot, along with their real estate agent, Brian Cournoyer and me.  Yes, this house is on the market.  The family has enjoyed it but with kids going off to school, they just don’t need as much space so they’re moving on.  This has truly been a family home, with the sport court, and even a children’s activity room near the sport court.  I love the inspirational quotes, along with the children’s art.  That’s a theme throughout the house.

You have to believe that these positive messages of love permeate their lives.  When you live around such encouraging words, it has to make your outlook brighter, don’t you think?

The kitchen has a large center island, a farm sink, big windows, and a beautiful hood over the stainless steel stove. It’s a gourmet kitchen with Thermadore appliances and lots of counter space and storage.

And the dining room off the foyer and kitchen has a casual feel to it with beautiful built in cabinets and wine racks that add a lot of character to the space.

The den off the kitchen is kid friendly too. Lots of comfortable furniture, a fireplace, and two sets of doors leading to their screened in porch.

Great views from the den and porch and there’s even a stocked pond out back.

The porch would feel great any time of the year with the fireplace.  The distressed finish adds to the casual atmosphere and makes it feel very welcoming.

Here’s a good view of the back, which shows another covered porch below.

The family has made many memories in this home.  And now it waits for another family to fill it with their own style and energy and paint splattering parties in the sport court!

This home is on the market.  If you’re interested, contact Brian Cournoyer with Deselms Real Estate.  His email is brianc@deselmsrealestate.com. His cell; 615-917-4995.
