02 Jul Flowers for the 4th!!!!!
While some of you may have your toes in the sand on the 4th of July this year, many of us will be at home or with friends in our hometowns cooking out. And if you are hosting a cook-out and you want to add some pizzazz to your patio or porch, I had a few ideas I thought I’d share. My first stop was my go to spot for plants at Moore and Moore Garden Center in Bellevue.
Not only are there multiple selections of flowering plants for a patriotic look, there are also so many shades of blue and white glazed pots. Here are just a few.
Then there is a display in front of the greenhouse with everything you need to mix red, white and blue or purple flowers. It’s kind of like Publix for fixing a meal where they have the section of all the ingredients you need for dinner!!! This container has angelonia, or summer snapdragons (the blue or purple ones), red mandavilla, red penta, and white begonias.
Here’s another look. The tall spiky plant is a red cordyline, mixed with caladium and a deep red dahlia.
And one more container.
Then I swung by Trader Joe’s and picked up some cut flowers for my tables. They have such a nice selection and good prices too. I ended up selecting red tulips, white hydrangeas, white roses, and blue hydrangeas.
Then I pulled three of my favorite containers out to use in different spots.
The one on the right was a gift from a friend, (@gracemystyle) the mason jar in the middle was one I’ve had for years, and the striped one was also a gift from someone many years ago. And here’s what I came up with for my kitchen table, hearth, and foyer.
Whatever your plans are, I hope it’s a fun and safe holiday celebrating this great country of ours. From our house to yours, Happy Independence Day!!!
