07 Aug Prime property in Nashville
We’ve all heard the saying, “Location, location, location,” when it comes to real estate and that really applies to the house I visited recently in Nashville.
But with that very convenient location in the heart of Green Hills near Nashville came the loss of privacy for singer songwriter John Prine. He and his wife raised their two sons here within a stone’s throw of a school, and wonderful retail and restaurants, but very little privacy in front of their house. That’s because as many as eight tour buses full of curious fans would come down the street some days. The Prines came up with a solution that was both aesthetically pleasing and offered much more privacy.
The terraced landscaping with many trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses offered beauty, texture and several layers of green and color to help block traffic. But even with the lush landscaping, the Prines decided it was time to move on. But my guess is with the tremendous growth Nashville continues to experience, they won’t have trouble selling this gem. I showed you the resort style backyard in my last post, so this time we step inside. Let’s start at the front door.
It’s definitely a bright and light filled gracious entrance with architecural detail including the molding and a dramatic staircase.
It looks like someone still lives here, but that’s not the case. The home was staged by Michelle Cox with Centered Staging. (615-585-0571) I think that has to be a plus when potential buyers come through an otherwise empty house, because let’s face it, it’s tough for a lot of people to visualize what a home would look like when there’s nothing inside. Here you’re looking into the casual den.
Not too crowded with furniture and personal affects like you might typically see when going to an open house or showing but it still adds some interest and warmth to a house. I particularly like the arched openings. This casual space is open to the kitchen.
John Prine’s wife Fiona is from Ireland and comes from a large family, and apparently they spent alot of time here. You can see why! Such a great floor plan for entertaining with the open kitchen, den and adjoining screened in porch not to mention the resort like back yard I featured in my previous article.
What I didn’t show you in the last article is the hidden space behind the house where Prine kept his car collection.
Nice to have it tucked away for overflow parking or for another car enthusiast! I’m crazy about the landscaping and how private they made the back, that includes a zen garden, pool house and the cabana.
The house has 59-hundred square feet that includes five bedrooms and four full baths. The master suite is pretty posh.
A fireplace in the bedroom is such a bonus to me, whether it’s just for the look of it, or for the actual warmth it provides in cooler months.
And the open area with shower heads on both walls and the tub is called a wet room. According to HGTV, this is considered a bathroom design trend, really gaining in popularity. A wet room is a space fully constructed with materials designed to get wet. Obviously, this is a very personal choice but designers say it’s important to work with professional architects and designers if you want this in your own home.
So this house is waiting on a new family to call it home. Lots of space to live and play in. For serious potential buyers, have a look for yourself. The listing agent is Deidre Kerr with Christianson Patterson Courtney & Associates; 615-423-7604.
