Resort feeling at home

Resort feeling at home

When you’re a well known singer-songwriter, and you live in a neighborhood that isn’t gated, there’s a pretty good chance you’re now on a tour bus route, and that can get annoying.  Just ask John Prine.  So the recording artist and composer dealt with it in a beautiful yet functional way to get a little privacy.

You can barely see the top of the house peeking out above the terraced landscaping in front.  What a great solution that also lends so much texture and interest to the Prine property.  Gorgeous limelight hydrangeas, evergreens, grasses, and many other shrubs and flowers fill the space and offer privacy from what I understand to be as many as eight tour buses driving down the street some days.  I can see why the fans are curious to see their favorite songwriters’ homes, but it would get tiresome.  And that’s why the Prines are selling the home.

The Prines raised their two sons here in the heart of Green Hills, which for those of you not familiar with Nashville, is a very desirable suburb with wonderful shopping, dining, and just about everything you could want.  It’s close enough to walk to the local YMCA, which is quite a destination as well as the local elementary school and so much more.

The house has been great for entertaining family and friends over the years, and with a home this size, nearly 6-thousand square feet, and a backyard that feels like a resort, it would be easy to do. Let me show you what I’m talking about.

See what I mean!!!  The large swimming pool and adjoining hot tub were designed by Madison Pools.  All the hardscaping, which is significant, and back retaining wall were also done by Madison.

It’s really hard to grasp that you’re in Green Hills, and so close to all the action, yet you feel so far away.

The back also boasts an outdoor kitchen/cabana with a wine fridge, sink and lots of counter space.  There’s a dining area and most of the covered area has screens with the option of closing off the largest opening with an automatic screen.  What a great area to escape the sun and grab something cold to drink while still being outside.

And then for quiet time and perhaps a little self-reflection, there’s a meditation garden tucked behind a wall in back.  I’ve got to think Prine was inspired by this space and maybe came up with a song or two out here.

When the weather cools off,  here’s another space to gather by the fireplace just steps away from the screened in porch attached to the main house.

But the Prines have moved to another home in Nashville that offers more privacy.  So if you’re interested or know someone who might be, the listing agent is Deirdre Kerr with Christianson Patterson Courtney & Associates.  She can be reached at 615-423-7604.

In my next post, I’ll show you the inside.  Here’s just a peek!
