Tina’s digs

She is oozing with style.  And I love reading her  take on fashion, and what we, as women, might want to consider when getting dressed. Or when shopping.  Nashvillian Tina Adams is a wardrobe consultant who helps women find the most flattering things to wear for their figures and their ages, even if it’s in their own closets. She  says women need to feel better about getting dressed which is often an emotionally charged experience.

tina2Adams tina1started her business back in 2007 with Tina Adams Consulting and recently revamped to Your Style Vault.

She started her blog as a way to connect with her clients.

So I wanted to know what does someone with her flair and knack for style like to surround herself with at home???

Tina lives in a 1920’s bungalow in the uber trendy section of Nashville known as 12 South.  When she purchased the home, it still had its original knob and tube wiring.  But with the help of her friend and designer ,  Jenni Lackey,  they’ve given the house a today vibe with a combination of Tina’s family antiques and her own purchases.

Her brother, Hunt Adams, did this painting.

The piano, which she plays, belonged to her mother.  And the empire table came out of the Flanoi Batte house in Pulaski.

Tina loves the hunt, whether it’s for clothing or furnishings, and the philosophy she uses in dressing is the same in decorating her house. High and low.  By that, she means mixing Chanel and Gap pieces on her body, and high end furniture or family heirlooms with TJ Maxx.

What’s hard for Tina is commiting to one look in her house.

This neutral palette tends to work best for her, but she says if she could own a warehouse and change it out regularly, she might decorate with an English look. Lots of books stacked everywhere and paintings filling the wall along with needlepoint pillows. But she’s afraid she would tire of it, so she goes back to all white, and really loves it best when it’s empty.

Her favorite designer is Ralph Lauren.  Again, if she could move and constantly change the decor, she would go from a western ranch glam style to an island feel to an upper east side look.  But that’s not reality.  So in keeping it real, she still has fun finding deals, like these lamps in  her kitchen from TJ Maxx.

The soothing paintings are by local artist Charlotte Terrell.

And I think the coral reef fragments add alot of interest to her shelves in a bedroom.

Tina says she loves teaching the science of good dressing and providing customer service to her clients.

It’s about caring for women, and making them feel better about themselves each day. Cheers to that!
